Foreword Vietnamese as a Second Language 4 (VSL4) is the fourth book in a series of 6 that has been compiled and edited by a group of lecturers from the faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language Program for Foreiners, of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City. It is estimated that this book can be mastered in about 100 class hours. Vietnamese as a Second Language 4 (VSL4) includes 10 lessons which introduces a number of model sentences, a number of written Vietnamese grammar points and about 500 new words. The subjects matter relate to common everyday topics such as: health, travel, career, vacation, festival etc.After every four lessons there a short text which introduces a note on vietnamese culture related to the topic of the lesson (except lesson 5 and 10) which aim to help the student to review what they have learned in the last four lessons). The goal of every lesson is to show the learner how to speak Vietnamese in a way that is completely natural. In the process of editing and preparing this book, We have received enthusiastic help and contributions of our colleagues and students of the Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language for Foreiners Faculty. In particular, the editorial board of the Education Publishing House has contributed valuable ideas during the process of editing this series. In addition, the team of authors would like to express their sincere thanks to their colleagues and students and to the editorial board of Education Publishing House. These people have contributed more than a small part for this book to take shape. While we exerted our best efforts, this program is certainly not free of mistake.
