... of the Vietnamese Studies branch (04VNH) and 12 Pusan university exchange students (06PS) in Hoi An town (Quang Nam province) from the 18th to the 31st of March, 2007.

The students on the fieldtrip were divided into 6 small groups to conduct 6 studies on: (1) Hoi An’s architecture; (2) Hoi An’s particular sightseeing spots; (3) Hoi An’s lantern handicraft; (4) Hoi An’s pottery industry; (5) Hoi An’s special food; (6) Hoi An’s ancient houses.

All studies required students to conduct surveys, do interviews and collect materials in different cultural and historic remains as well as in small industries in Hoi An. Also, the students were required to consult other information sources like books, newspapers and the Internet. At the end of the trip, all studies were developed into small written projects.

The trip ended up successfully. After the trip, the students not only got a better understanding about Hoi An ancient town but also learned how to conduct a survey, collect data and write conference paper. Providing students with such skills was the focus of the fieldtrip.
