On the February 24th, 2007, the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language for Foreigners of the USSH held an opening ceremony welcoming 4 students coming from the APU.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities, since 2007 anually the APU will send two groups of APU students to the USSH for the Vietnamese language training. Each group will study at the USSH for 5 weeks. During each period, besides attending Vietnamese classes, APU students will also be taken for historical heritage and sight-seeing trips around HoChiMinh city and the Mekong River Delta. Before the beginning of this official collaborative program, since 2002 the Department has trained Vietnamese for over 60 self-funded APU students. In general, all APU students have achieved significant improvement in their speaking and listening Vietnamese skills after their training courses at the Department. Also, they have expressed good memory about the country and the people of Vietnam in general and the teachers of the Department in particular. These short training courses are considered a firm foundation for the two universities to sign the official 2007 project. |
