Established on December 26, 1998 (formerly the Center for Vietnamese and Southeast Asian Studies), the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies has the following objectives: - to offer a bachelor’s degree program in Vietnamese studies for foreigners.
- to provide Vietnamese language courses.
- to provide courses through Vietnamese language in various disciplines: Vietnamese Culture, History of Vietnam, Geography of Vietnam, Economics, Literature etc.
- to provide enrichment courses for foreign teachers of Vietnamese.
- to design (upon request) intensive courses to train experts in Vietnamese studies for work in foreign diplomatic offices, companies...
- to design specific academic programs of Vietnamese language and to organize Vietnamese cultural discovery tours for student groups from overseas universities.
- to do research on Vietnam in various fields of study.
- to support foreign researchers and students in their fieldwork with inter-university cooperative programs doing research on different issues.
- to exchange teachers of Vietnamese with overseas universities around the world.
- to create books and textbooks for the purpose of Vietnamese language training.
