Field trip for VNS students (school year 2008-2009) PDF Print E-mail
Faculty of Vietnamese studies organized a field trip to Hue, the old capital city of Vietnam, for 32 students currently enrolled in our Bachelor program in Vietnamese studies, from March 16 till 20, 2009. The aim of the field trip is to enable students to experience first - hand Hue local culture, Hue's original traditional handicraft and the daily life of local people, as well as to familiarize students with field research methodology. The students are guided by Prof. Nguyen Van Hue, Dean of Faculty of Vietnamese studies and 5 others faculty staff members of Faculty of Vietnamese studies.

The field trip is facilitated by the warm assistance of Hue local authority. Through the field trip, students have accumulated knowledge and experience on field research as well as learned more about Hue, the local people and culture. Especially, Mr. Lee Sang U (3rd year student, Bachelor program in Vietnamese studies), who participated in a research group on the life of families living on boats on Huong river, has decided to sponsor a local 6th-grade student whose parents cannot afford her education. The students' school fee would be paid by Mr. Lee until she graduates from highschool. This is one of the many positive changes and achievements resulted from this year's field trip.
