The field trip participant group, with 25 students including 13 junior Vietnamese studies Bachelor program students and 12 Pusan 2+2 program students led by Dr. Nguyen Van Hue successfully completed field work to An Binh commune, Long Ho village, Vinh Long province from Mar 23, 2008 to Mar 29, 2008. This field trip has offered VNS students a chance to conduct research on the local culture. Students have worked in groups to complete the following research projects: 1. Gardening activities 2. Tourist activities 3. Local cuisine culture 4. Local transportation 5. Sauce manufacture During the field work, VNS students have first – hand experienced local people’s daily life and work, including observing the local people’s daily life and work habits, conducting a number of interviews and particularly, taking part in the daily activities with the local people. The one – week field trip has helped students gain understanding on the local culture, the way of life and the people. On the other hand, intensive interaction between students and local people during the one week field work also formed lasting international friendships. This is the 5th time Faculty of Vietnamese studies has organized field trips for our undergraduate students. This activity has consistently been a significant element in our training program and a major positive contribution to our training outcomes. |
